When did the Christmas decoration become such a festive favourite?
Christmas decorations have long been a favourite at this time of year, but at what point did they all become so popular?
Author Paul Kerensa has researched the subject heavily, and explained more to 麻豆社 Radio Berkshire's Sarah Walker.
Paul Kerensa, author "Hark! The Biography of Christmas":
"Your Christmas tree comes from Prince Albert, and the fact he was putting it up and bringing it over from Germany, but the tree we now have in the corner of our living rooms is just one incarnation.
"Way before then there are ways it come to Germany, apparently Martin Luther was the first to decorate a tree.
"Centuries ago you used to put a model of Jesus on the top of the tree, and then that became a more anonymous sort of angel."
