He also announced that the government is setting a target of building 300,000 new homes every year. Here in Surrey, the shortage of affordable housing is a big issue. But so is building in protected parts of the countryside - whether it's a garden village in Tandridge or new homes being planned in places like Guildford, Elmbridge and Waverley.
