The floating bin sucking up rubbish from the sea

A floating bin designed to suck plastic bags and bottles, cigarette butts and other rubbish out of the sea is being introduced to British waters for the first time. The ‘Seabin’ can collect one and a half kilograms of waste a day, which is equivalent to around 20,000 plastic bottles or 83,000 plastic bags a year. It's being installed in Portsmouth harbour, next to the base of Sir Ben Ainslie’s yacht racing team.

Pete Ceglinski is the CEO and Co-founder of The Seabin Project. He says the bins are “small but they’re making quite an impact.â€
