In April this year Jane Birkin released a new studio album, Birkin/Gainsbourg Le Symphonique which featured orchestral arrangements of the Gainsbourg songbook by the Japanese pianist and composer Nobuyuki Nakajima.

Birkin is performing songs from the album live including a date at the Barbican (26/09) with the Heritage Orchestra and more to come in the future

She told Elizabeth Alker how the album came about and how it feels to play the songs live:
