Symphony No. 9 in E minor, 'From the New World’ – Largo by Dvořák: An exciting introduction
Naomi Wilkinson explores AntonÃn Dvořák's music using facts and insight, beautiful animation and footage from the heart of the Â鶹Éç Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Rafael Payare.
Dvořák, who was so inspired by the folk music of his native Czech culture, wrote this symphony during his time in America, in the 1890s. Dvořák was homesick, but also greatly influenced by the sights and sounds he experienced in America.
