The government is this week examining the UK's relationship with the European Court of Justice (ECJ). Battle lines have already been drawn as the Brexit Secretary David Davis, who has promised to pull the UK out from direct jurisdiction of the ECJ. But critics have said that that is foolish.

Specialist in EU law Martin Howe and former ECJ judge Sir David Edward discussed with John Humphrys what the relationship between the government and the ECJ should look like.
