What is 'radical economic transformation'?
South Africa鈥檚 new mining charter is illustrative of a policy desire on the part of the government called "radical economic transformation" - a catchphrase that has been in vogue among politicians and ministers.
But there is confusion as to exactly what it means. Some say it means more spending on areas such as education and health. Others say it means making the economy more attractive for investment. And some say it means a complete overhaul of who owns what in South Africa.
Bonang Mohale is the chief executive of the business lobby group, Business Leadership South Africa. The 麻豆社鈥檚 Milton Nkosi asked him what he thought radical economic transformation would entail.
