The Archaeology of Crossrail

A number of incredible historical finds have been discovered on the route from Reading to Essex.

麻豆社 Radio Berkshire's Bill Buckley was joined by Jackie Keily, she's the curator of a new exhibit at the Museum of London which houses these discoveries, including a Roman item which was very nearly destroyed...

"Archaeology is an important part of any construction project these days... so something like Crossrail we knew would go through many rich archaeological areas, it's planned in from the very beginning.

"On the site of Liverpool Street Station professional miners could go into a small tunnel, they took photos and collected objects. One of the miners caught a Roman pot as it fell from the ceiling.

"The last thing you want is something like that falling and shattering."
