Berkshire medic who was WW1 hero
Captain Harold Ackroyd never got to wear his Victoria Cross, won in the mud, blood and rain of the Battle of Passchendaele on July 31st 1917.
He saved the lives of countless Royal Berkshire 6th battalion soldiers.
Sgt Victoria Bruce, a serving British Army Combat Medical Technician, follows in Harold's footsteps to learn how this unassuming family man became a hero, and why he never actually received his medal for exceptional bravery.
