What do political protests achieve?
Shadow chancellor John McDonnell wanted one million people to take to the streets to change the government, when he backed a Day of Rage protest in London.
Daily Politics presenter Jo Coburn spoke to Matthew Bolton, from Citizens UK, which helps community groups organise to bring about political change, and Jamie Kelsey-Fry, a contributing editor at New Internationalist magazine who backed the anti-capitalist Occupy movement.
Guests Fraser Nelson from the Spectator, and Anoosh Chakelian from The New Statesman, also joined in the debate on the point and power of protests and placard-waving.
