
'I saved my friend's life, but thought I'd paralysed him'
Will was paralysed on a teenage lad's holiday in 2009. His best friend saved his life but may have contributed to his life-changing injuries.
The physical and emotional trauma of the accident affected both men. Gareth, who rescued Will from drowning, said: "The next couple of years are a bit of a blur, because I was just drinking and my head was all over the place."
As part of 5 live's state of mind season Gareth tells Stephen Nolan how trauma and guilt sent him "off the rails", even though he wasn't in a wheelchair.
