Fire risk assessment regime 'not fit for purpose'

London Fire Brigade warned all 33 London councils about the potential risks of external cladding on tower blocks in May this year, the 麻豆社 has learned, weeks before the Grenfell Tower fire.

The warning followed another blaze in London last August, where fire experts believed that exterior insulation panels were the likely cause of the fire spreading on the outside of the building.

An investigation by The World Tonight has found that fire risk assessments can be carried out by inexperienced and unqualified people, and they rarely consider any cladding or panels attached to the outside of the building.

The World Tonight's Andrew Hosken has this exclusive report.
