Brand new compositions unveiled at Smallwood Primary School's assembly
Watch Year 5 and 6 pupils from Greater London lead a Ten Pieces Assembly for the rest of the school. Each class performed their own compositions inspired by the piece of music they had been studying this term, as well as sharing research they had done about the composers and their music.
One Year 5 class based their composition on Holst's 'Mars'. They created their own ostinatos and used different dynamics to create excitement. Another Year 5 class were inspired by Mussorgsky's A Night on the Bare Mountain; they wrote their own motifs and even included a bell to show when morning had arrived. Year 6 wrote a body percussion piece which they performed in canon after being inspired by Anna Meredith's Connect It.
