The first million pound house?
Bute Family historian, Andrew McLean, tells us about the construction of Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute. The most expensive house to have been built at the time, it was the first in the world to have an indoor heated swimming pool and the first in Scotland to be purpose-built with electricity, telephone and central heating.
