Rich Thomson became the first person to suffer a shark attack in UK waters whilst he was surfing off Bantham beach in Devon.

The secondary school teacher suffered a 'bruised thigh' and 'cut thumb' before batting the 3 ft Smooth-hound shark away.

Rich said pupils and staff at his school have been teasing him since the attack, calling him 'Nemo' and shouting 'I've seen cod bigger than that.'
