Children's nurse and her cancer patient work side-by-side 14 years on
A student nurse who was inspired to take up the profession following her own experience of cancer as a child, has found herself working alongside the nurse who helped to care for her. 19-year-old Clara Markiewicz was just four when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. She spent six months living in hospital, where one of her nursing role models, was Kate Pye.
The pair have now been reunited at Southampton Children's Hospital, where Clara is a student nurse and Kate is Head of Nursing.
