Do we really need 'best before dates'?
MPs from the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee have called for a review into 'best before dates' after raising concerns about high levels of food waste.
Campaigners have said over seven million tonnes of food was thrown away by British households in 2015.
Dr. Lisa Ackerley, a food hygiene expert, told 5 live's Chris Warbuton it's a "crying shame" 'best before dates' are often confused with 'use by dates'.
