Poly Styrene's daughter Celeste Bell talks about the new film of her Mother's life
To coincide with the 40th anniversary of punk heroes X-Ray Spex debut album 'Germfree Adolescents', it's been announced that a new film about the the band's singer and songwriter in the works entitled Poly Styrene: I Am A Clich茅
Poly died on 25 April 2011, at the age of 53 after a battle with cancer, but this seems like a fitting tribute to one of the smarted and sharpest voices in punk. It's a feature-length film about Poly's life using new original interviews, new research and previously unseen archive material aims to tell her, mostly untold story, incorporating "her struggles with misogyny, racism and mental health issues"
Its been directed Paul Sng - who made the Sleaford Mods - Invisible Britain film and has been co-written by Poly's daughter Celeste Bell who talks to 6 Music's Matt Everitt about the film.
