G7 Summit: Can they change Russia's mind on Syria?

The G7 summit considers sanctions for Russia over Syria support.

The G7 club of the world's richest nations are now considering a further tightening of sanctions on Putin and his allies. But can they work?

The US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, will be in Moscow for a crucial confrontation with the Russian government over its continued support for President Bashar al Assad after last week's gas attack in Syria. Theresa May and Donald Trump are said to have agreed in a phone call that there is a window of opportunity to convince Russia to abandon its support for Syria.

Professor Daniel Fried is former US Ambassador under Barack Obama, Chrystia Freeland is the Canadian Foreign Minister and member of the G7 and Evgeny Buzhinsky is a retired Lt General in the Russian military and is now with Russian think tank PIR Center.
