'MTN must find new digital revenue streams'
As African consumers buy more smartphones, revenues from calls are declining while demand for data is increasing.
That takes investment. And for Africa largest mobile operator, Mobile Telephone Network (MTN), it has been a difficult time. Failure to disconnect unregistered SIM cards in Nigeria led to a fine of $1.7bn (拢1.4bn) which has punched a big hole in the company's latest earnings.
The 麻豆社鈥檚 Lerato Mbele sat down with Phuthuma Nhleko, executive chairman of MTN, about the future of the company.
