The Reading Lido accuse Thames Water of "delaying tactics"
The outdoor pool at Kings Meadow is due to reopen this summer.
The Reading Lido is due to reopen this summer after extensive improvement works, but they're accusing Thames Water of delaying the sewage connection to the pool.
Arne Ringmer, Thames Lido:
"It's a long drawn out saga, it's getting to a point where it's becoming a bit of a limiting factor. We've been promised a new pump station in the park, to take our waste water away.
"If we try to landscape Kings Meadow Park to bring it back into use for the people of Reading...it'll be a great shame if we can't put in this new facility.
"They always keep promising, and I'm afraid that weeks have grown into months, and months into years."
Thames Valley Statement:
The work we'll be doing on our sewer network will not impact the development of the lido as we'll be working a good distance away from it.
The sewer system will be ready in good time for the planned opening but can be prepared at shorter notice with a temporary pump should the lido open earlier than planned, so there won't be any delays to the project due to the sewers.
