Margaret and Susan: A Friend Indeed
Two incomers to Maryport on the West Coast of Cumbria strike up an instant fellowship which has been the icing on the cake of moving to such a beautiful town. It was a job interview that brought Susan to Maryport ten years ago when she and her husband were back in the UK on leave from Zambia. She fell in love with the place, and while she didn't get the job, she resolved, despite objections from her southern family, to settle in West Cumbria. Being an English teacher and writer it seemed natural she would start a book club, and this was where she met fellow incomer Margaret. She'd only travelled as far as the Yorkshire Dales to live by the sea with her husband, but their instant rapport helped Susan bridge the twelve months she spent here on her own, before Richard could join her from Africa.
