The True Story of Whisky Galore
When a ship laden with bottles of whisky was wrecked off the Scottish Hebrides, the islanders scrambled to salvage the cargo. The incident became the inspiration for a hit film.
In February 1941, a ship carrying nearly 30,000 cases of whisky was wrecked off the Scottish island of Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides. The islanders began to salvage the bottles from the wreck. Lucy Burns presents material from the 麻豆社 archives about the incident that later became the inspiration for the film Whisky Galore.
