Behind Poland’s Black Protests
What was behind the protests by thousands of women – and men – in Poland? The demonstrations were sparked by an attempt to ban all abortions but they were about much more than that. Under black umbrellas in the pouring rain, people left their work to protest in small towns all over the country. Many had never done anything like it before.
