Ricky Tomlinson: Royle Family's ‘Nana’ was ‘everyone’s grandmother’
Star of the Royle Family Ricky Tomlinson has said the character “Nana” played by actress Liz Smith was “everyone’s grandmother”.
Liz Smith, who also played Mrs Cropley in the Vicar of Dibley, died aged 95 on Christmas Eve.
Ricky, who played Jim Royle in the sitcom, said Nana was “the people’s favourite character.”
He said: “We used to take the mickey out of her something shocking, and you’d get it back double from Liz.”
