The dark truth hidden in this painting
Something is amiss in Pieter Bruegel the Elder鈥檚 Massacre of the Innocents, painted as a commemoration of one of the most harrowing stories from the Bible - Herod's massacre of all infant boys in Bethlehem. It's only on closer examination that it becomes clear that the painting has been doctored to soften the violence of Pieter Bruegel's original work.
