Michael Parkinson has said prostate cancer is 鈥渘ot a death sentence鈥� and people 鈥渟hould not be so daft鈥� but should see their doctor for a test.

The 80-year-old veteran broadcaster revealed he was receiving radiotherapy for prostate cancer in 2013 and was given an all-clear by doctors in 2015.

He said: 鈥淵ou have to get tested as soon as possible and if the results are that you鈥檝e got it, live in hope rather than fear.鈥�

鈥淚t can be hugely embarrassing 鈥� but you鈥檙e not dead and that鈥檚 the point,鈥� he told us.

One man in the UK dies from the disease every hour - despite treatment being available if caught early enough.
