Teachers are making up to several thousands of pounds of extra income by selling lesson plans online to other teachers in the UK and around the world.

The Times Educational Supplement (TES) set up the sharing platform in 2015 and says eight million teachers are now using the service, which lets users create and share free and paid classroom materials.

When asked by 5 live Wake Up To Money's Louise Cooper if teachers were cheating by buying lesson plans online, the CEO of TES Rob Grimshaw said: "There are more dimensions to it than that.

"Certainly on a Sunday night I think it's pretty tempting... but all of these resources are road-tested in the classroom."

TES says the most popular paid resources focus on classroom behaviour, bullying, assemblies, maths and languages.
