Lara signs for Aussie pub team
West Indies batsman Brian Lara retired in 2007 with nearly 12,000 Test runs to his name and a highest first-class score of 501 not out.
But it seems he could be about to make a comeback for the unlikeliest of teams.
Lara was having a drink in a pub in the outskirts of Sydney when he was approached by players from the Bennett Hotel Centurions, a fifth-grade team made up of teachers, accountants and tradesmen.
They got chatting and a couple of hours later a contract was produced.
Lara duly signed, setting the wheels in motion for a story that is making its way around the world.
The team's all-rounder and newly appointed "media liaison officer" Darren Wilton has been talking to Stumped.
