John Simpson on life on the front line
John Simpson is the 麻豆社 World Affairs Editor with a career spanning 50 years.
His job has taken him to some of the most dangerous areas of the world: He became the first journalist to interview the Taliban after dressing in a Burqa to sneak into Afghanistan; he's been hunted by President Robert Mugabe's forces in Zimbabwe; and witnessed 46 deaths at Tiananmen Square, Beijing.
The 72-year-old revealed he's had 10 near-death experiences, having been blown up and bombed in the field - but recently nearly died from food poisoning.
