PJ Crowley: Hillary Clinton was too 'establishment'
PJ Crowley, who was a spokesman for Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State, has said she failed to win the presidency partly because she was too 'establishment'.
Philip J Crowley was the United States Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs from 2009 to 2011. He told Â鶹Éç Radio 5 live's Sarah Brett and Nihal Arthanayake:
"I think in a non -conventional political year with anti-establishment votes from Brexit to the scepticism expressed by the Columbian people over the peace agreement with the FARC, that Hillary Clinton represented the most conventional, the most establishment candidacy and policy going forward".
He added she was unable to focus on the 'history making potential' of being the first woman to be a major party nominee because she had to deal with the 'controversy' which came out when her emails were leaked.
