Buried assassin: mysteries of the M25
The M25, Britain鈥檚 busiest motorway, turns 30 today and is apparently full of mysteries 鈥 in the 1970s, the body of an assassin was found buried in the concrete on a stretch of the road.
That is according to author of 鈥楳25: A Circular Tour of the London Orbital鈥, Ray Hamilton, who shared his favourite M25 tales with 5 live.
Satirist Richard Stilgoe was sent on top of the flyover 40 years ago to play a song he called 鈥楤ridge over troubled murder鈥, Hamilton told us.
鈥淚t was far more ironic than he could even have imagined,鈥 he said: 鈥淜ent CID received a tip off that an assassin had been buried there while the concrete was still wet鈥.
鈥淗e鈥檇 received a dose of his own medicine,鈥 he added.
