Even more intense fighting broke out after airstrikes on Syrian troops and an aid convoy.
Hopes for the ceasefire in Syria vanished almost at once, after a US airstrike on Syrian troops which Washington said was an accident, and an attack on an aid convoy which both Russia and Syria denied carrying out. Have we reached the point that diplomats call "mutually hurting stalemate" -- when parties to a conflict are all so badly hurt that there is nothing more to be gained from fighting?
