The niqab-wearing heavy metal guitarist
Gisele Marie Rocha converted to Islam in 2009 and dresses in the niqab, a veil covering the face so that only the eyes are visible, and chador, a full-body cloak, whenever she is in public - including when she's on stage with the band Eden Seed. Her dress is highly unusual in Brazil, which has the biggest Catholic population in the world. So you can imagine the impact when she takes to the stage with her beloved guitar, Polka. Our reporter Gibby Zobel met her in the Santana neighbourhood in S茫o Paulo where she lives. (Picture credit: Gibby Zobel.)
