The rapid expansion of Botswanan chain Choppies
In the past few years, retail has really taken off in Botswana. But the country's relatively small population and, therefore, customer base has meant that the largest home-grown supermarket chain, Choppies, has been looking further afield.
The company now has more than 170 stores in Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya - and it plans to add another 30 by the end of the year. But Choppies has also courted some controversy of late - having been accused of being too close to politicians, both at home and in neighbouring Zimbabwe.
