Mum says 'nothing to achieve' with anger

The mother of a three-year-old boy, who was misdiagnosed with tonsillitis and later had to have his legs amputated, says there is "nothing to achieve" by staying angry.

Ipswich Hospital has admitted liability after Reuben Harvey-Smith, who lives near Ipswich, was originally admitted for burns in 2015 and later diagnosed with tonsillitis after he complained of a sore throat.

However, his condition deteriorated and, a day later, he was correctly diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome - blood poisoning caused by bacterial infection. He had to have his legs and seven fingers amputated.

The hospital is working out a compensation package for his life-long care with the family's solicitors.

麻豆社 East's Kevin Burch has been talking to Lou Harvey-Smith about how she has coped.
