An Ipswich man had a shock when he found a 4ft snake under a wooden sleeper in his garden.

Mark Sampson, who admits to being "terrified" of snakes, enlisted help to capture the slippery visitor - a Mexican kingsnake.

A couple of friends, armed with a gardening glove and a pillowcase, manage to grab hold of the reptile.

The family said it had been taken to a secret location and released.
