McLoughlin: 'Brexit means we have to control our borders'
Conservative Party Chairman Patrick McLoughlin has said Article 50 will be triggered before the country holds a General Election.
Speaking on the Andrew Marr show, he said he was clear the referendum result is binding.
Mr McLoughlin also said that "Brexit does mean we have to have control of our borders."
He agreed that that meant the government would definitely bring down immigration, but that the pace at which it does so must depend on exactly when Article 50 is triggered.
Speaking about his new role as party chairman, he said he wanted the party to be "open to everybody."
He said "it has been something that people have felt disbarred from and I want to change that."
