A vet's dilemma in a Buddhist country
Sri Lankan vet Dr Nalinika Obeyesekere has thought long and hard about how to reconcile her country's widespread Buddhist belief that animals are sentient beings and should not be killed, with her professional instincts to end a sick animal's suffering. She explains that she does put people's pets down, but that her practice is probably the only one to offer this service.
