Rescue diver recognised 29 years on
A presentation has been made in Gosport, 29 years after it was supposed to have happened.
On December 26th 1987, two divers were working deep in the north sea when their support ship had to abandon them. After being trapped for 24 hours, a second support ship staged a rescue operation.
The man who organised the rescue has now been recognised for his work.
George Porter from Newcastle spoke to our reporter Neil Sackley after the presentation and recalled his memory of that day.
