Blackbird

Male blackbirds live up to their name, with their glossy jet plumage and bright orange beaks and eyerings.
In contrast, the females are brown, and unusually some male blackbirds can also grow white feathers where they're not meant to.
This condition, called partial albinism, can result in them being shunned or picked on by other birds, and they seem to be the garden birds most commonly affected by the condition.
Their calls are complex and varied and they鈥檙e also great mimics. Studies have shown that they are not only able to copy other birds, but also domestic cats, and the sound of car alarms.
But during the breeding season, the song we are most familiar with is the rich leisurely refrain made up of flute-like phrases as a male blackbird sings from a prominent position in the hope of attracting a mate.
