In the north west of Cambodia, near the city of Battambang lies a unique transport system.

Driven by a small engine, the vehicles, known as "norries" consist of bamboo platforms that sit on top of two sets of wheels.

Decades of civil war and sabotage by the Khmer Rouge took their toll on Cambodia's official railways and for many years the unofficial "bamboo railway" was the only passenger service to regularly run on the battered network.

But in recent years the country's rail tracks have started to be renewed and meaning the days of the "bamboo railway" may now come to an end.
