Sir Peter Maxwell Davies challenges his critics
His earlier works were sometimes referred to as ‘unplayable’, audience members shouted ‘rubbish’ at the premiere of his opera Eight Songs for a Mad King and a mass walk out was staged in response to his inaugural performance of Worldes Blis at the Â鶹Éç Proms, but Sir Peter Maxwell Davies ignored his critics and continued to push the boundaries of music throughout his career. He will be remembered as one of the most prolific and pioneering musicians of our time.
