Russia must pay back all money ‘won’ by doped athletes

Marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe is backing an online petition urging the IAAF to recover all prize and appearance money awarded to Russian athletes who have been caught doping since 2009. Radcliffe believes that until the All-Russia Athletics Federation pay the money back then Russia should not have their ban from international track and field lifted. Radcliffe wants that money given to the athletes beaten by the cheats, and also believes that so-called ‘whistle-blowers’ should not receive special treatment.

Nick Bitel is Chief Executive of the London Marathon - they’re pursuing their own legal action against Liliya Shobukhova, the Russian who won the race in 2010 and 2011 but was later found to have been doping.

Bitel has told Sport Today that the proposals backed by Radcliffe also have their full support.
