Lomu's wife 'distressed' by claims
Jonah Lomu's personal doctor says an article suggesting that the supplement, creatine, may have contributed to the New Zealand rugby union star's death is "totally incorrect" and has left the player's wife "distressed".
"No, he didn't use creatine," John Mayhew, who was also head of the All Blacks medical team, told Â鶹Éç World Service.
The claim was made by a former team-mate. Joeli Vidiri, who has the same kidney condition as Lomu, played with him at both the Auckland Blues and for New Zealand.
Vidiri told Britain's Daily Telegraph: ""I stopped taking creatine when we started to get worried about what it was doing to us. As soon as there were rumours about it, I stopped."
