Of the seven Cranston brothers who served in World War One: four died, two were seriously wounded and only one, the youngest, returned home physically unharmed. This one family鈥檚 experience of the Great War is representative of the sacrifice made by a whole generation of families across the country.
The Cranston family from Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland sent seven sons off to the Front. This is the story of how the family鈥檚 sacrifice impacted on the sons, on their mother, Lizzie, and how the family fiddle, which travelled to the Frontline and survived, is now played throughout the Scottish Borders, sharing their story through music.
