The 'Baltimore Affair'

The "Baltimore Affair" is example of what can go wrong in scientific research

The "Baltimore Affair", that started at MIT in the USA, is an example of what can go wrong in scientific research. It involved a Nobel-laureate, the discovery of test results inconsistent with published results, a whistle-blower, and Congress.

It ended with the exoneration of the researcher concerned 10 years later, and a reduction of regulatory bodies' powers.
