Roan Cottage, Co. Armagh: Private William McBride
The famous song 鈥淣o Man鈥檚 Land鈥 by Eric Bogle is better known by other names such as 鈥淭he Green Fields of France鈥 or just 鈥淲illie McBride鈥 and is about the singer resting by the grave of a young soldier killed in the First World War and reflecting on his death and the horrors of war.
County Armagh historian Trevor Geary believes he has found the identity of the eponymous Willie McBride. Gordon Adair tells the story.
