Digitising Dunhuang

The treasures of Dunhuang on the Silk Road

1600 years ago a Chinese monk carved a cave for meditation in a cliff near Dunhuang on the Silk Road. This trading post became a treasure house of Buddhist art. Isobel Hilton reports on the project to put these treasures on the internet. Contributors include Susan Whitfield of the International Dunhuang Project.
