Northampton General Hospital chief executive, Sonia Swart, says it may have to cancel elective surgeries during the winter.
The hospital's Accident and Emergency Department is bracing itself for its busiest winter ever.
Senior staff say they're already seeing more people attending A&E than in previous years and they believe it'll only get worse in January and February.
